Name history
Rugby league history
Bowling Park is a Bradford municipal park, opened in 1880 on land including part of the former Bolling Hall grounds. Its only documented rugby league use was as the home ground of amateur club Birkenshaw for a single Challenge Cup preliminary-round campaign season, hosting three ties: a 2002 loss to West Bowling, and a 2003 win over St Albans followed by a heavy defeat to Dudley Hill. Rugby League Project labels these fixtures under the competition's year-of-final naming convention (e.g. 'Challenge Cup 2004' for matches played in autumn 2003), which is consistent with, not contradictory to, the site's own 2002-2003 season data.
