Rugby league history
This community multi-sport ground in Castleton, Rochdale hosted two Challenge Cup early-round rugby league fixtures as classic amateur giant-killer ties: a 2005 tie in which Waterhead hosted Sheffield Eagles, and a 2008 tie in which Rochdale Mayfield hosted Barrow. Rochdale Mayfield later purchased and renovated the ground as their long-term amateur rugby league home.
