Rugby league history

Construction finished in February 2008 and the Titans (who had played their inaugural 2007 season at nearby Carrara) hosted North Queensland there for their first match at the venue. The ground staged the Titans' first-ever finals match in 2009 (against Brisbane, also the venue's record crowd), two 2008 Rugby League World Cup fixtures including New Zealand's 48-6 win over Papua New Guinea, and a State of Origin Game 3 in 2021 after the series relocated from Sydney and Newcastle because of COVID-19.
