Name history
- Kingsmeadow — 1989-2019/2020, the original name, in use at the time of the recorded 2000 match
- The Cherry Red Records Stadium — from around 2019/2020, a sponsorship name also later applied to a separate, newer Plough Lane ground the club moved to, causing some naming confusion between the two distinct stadiums
- The Cherry Red Records Fans' Stadium — name retained/used after AFC Wimbledon took over the leasehold; this is the name Rugby League Project uses for this venue
Rugby league history
This venue's one recorded rugby league match was a domestic Challenge Cup tie, not (as might be assumed) a Rugby League World Cup fixture -- direct checking against the 2000 World Cup's official venue list confirmed Kingsmeadow was not used for that tournament. Instead, on 27 February 2000, London Broncos hosted Salford City Reds in a Challenge Cup Round 5 tie at Kingsmeadow, an alternative home venue for the Broncos that season, losing 21-22 in front of 1,577 fans and being eliminated from the competition.
