Sourcing caveat: This is a genuinely thin entry: no dedicated Rugby League Project venue page or independent local history source was found for Clarence Field under that name (RLP's own 'Clarence Field' summary page carries no opening date, home club or match data beyond confirming the Kirkstall, Leeds location), so this write-up rests on the two Wikipedia articles that mention it in passing as part of Bramley R.L.F.C.'s and the training ground's own histories. Total games hosted, first/last match dates and floodlight/surface details are all unconfirmed and have been omitted rather than estimated.

Name history

  • Clarence Field — used until 1996
  • Kirkstall Training Ground — 1996–present, as Leeds Rhinos' training facility

Rugby league history

Clarence Field, in Kirkstall, was Headingley RUFC's rugby union ground before it briefly entered rugby league history: Bramley R.L.F.C. moved there in 1995 after their previous home, McLaren Field, became financially unsustainable. The tenancy lasted only one season. In 1996 Leeds (now Leeds Rhinos) bought Clarence Field to build a purpose-built training facility, displacing Bramley, who were then offered a ground-share at Headingley from 1997 until the club folded in 1999. The site has operated since as Leeds Rhinos' Kirkstall training ground, also used at times by National Conference League side Milford and by Leeds City College's rugby league team; it suffered significant flood damage on Boxing Day 2015, requiring an estimated £6 million clean-up.
