Rugby league history
Devonshire Park was a short-lived Edwardian sports ground in Carlisle, built for Carlisle United A.F.C. in 1905 and abandoned for competitive football by 1909, after which its grandstand was moved to Brunton Park, the club's long-term home. Its one notable rugby league connection came on 4 February 1909, when Cumberland's county representative team beat the touring Australian Kangaroos 11-2 in front of 2,000 fans, during the 1908-09 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain -- the only rugby league match Rugby League Project records at this venue.
