Elland Road Greyhound Stadium
Leeds, West Yorkshire, England
Elland Road Greyhound Stadium, Leeds, England — opened 1927, 97 rugby league games hosted, home of Hunslet RLFC (rugby league tenant, 1973-1979/80); the venue's primary business throughout its life was greyhound racing, not rugby league.
Sourcing caveat: Confirmed via two independent sources to be a distinct venue from the football Elland Road: Wikipedia describes it as built opposite the football ground, and its entire subject matter (greyhound racing, baseball, closure 1982, site now a police HQ) is unrelated to the football stadium's own history. On the Hunslet tenancy dates, Wikipedia's Elland Road Greyhound Stadium article gives 1973-1980 while Rugby League Project's team-grounds listing (matching this project's own venues data) gives 1973-1979 — a one-year discrepancy on the end date that could not be resolved from sources checked.

Name history
- Elland Road Greyhound Stadium — 1927-1982 (also referred to as Leeds Greyhound Stadium)
Rugby league history
This is a genuinely separate venue from the world-famous Elland Road football ground (home of Leeds United) — it stood nearby, on the south side of Elland Road opposite the football stadium, and was purpose-built for greyhound racing, opening on Saturday 16 July 1927 with meetings on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings; it also hosted professional baseball before the Second World War. Hunslet RLFC, one of rugby league's founding clubs, moved in as tenants after leaving their long-time Parkside ground, playing home matches at the greyhound stadium through the 1970s before relocating again to what became Fox's Biscuits Stadium (South Leeds Stadium). Greyhound racing at the track ended with its last meeting on 15 March 1982, and the site was eventually redeveloped; the new Leeds District Police headquarters opened there in 2014.
Built and operated primarily as a greyhound racing track; also briefly hosted professional baseball before WWII. Not to be confused with the Leeds United football stadium of the same road name, which sits on the opposite side of Elland Road.
