Sourcing caveat: We were unable to reach Rugby League Project's own venue page for this ground despite several attempts (persistent 404s), so this entry relies on Wikipedia's own sourced match table rather than direct RLP confirmation — though the match count, date range and top-crowd figure all match our internal directory exactly, giving reasonable confidence.

Rugby league history

The Adelaide Rams played their entire, sole top-flight season here in 1998 before News Limited wound the club up ahead of 1999, ending South Australia's brief NRL/Super League era. The ground later hosted two further one-off relocated NRL "home" fixtures (Penrith 2006, Cronulla 2009) as part of the league's periodic efforts to test South Australia as a growth market. Cronulla had signed on to play three NRL home games at the venue over three seasons from 2009, as part of a South Australian government-backed push to grow the code there, but were released from that agreement early in the 2010 season, meaning the planned follow-up fixtures never took place — consistent with our directory's recorded last use of 2009.

The long-standing home of Adelaide United FC (A-League football, since 2003); historical home of West Adelaide and Adelaide City football clubs.
