Ground facts
| Opened | unknown (A genuine, unresolved discrepancy: the rugby union club now based in Kendal gives contradictory accounts of when it started using this ground relative to 1906, and neither account is reconciled with the two rugby league matches recorded here in 1900 and 1903, which predate either version of that timeline. It is not confirmed whether Kendal Hornets, the rugby league side that played here, was formally connected to the rugby union club that later used the same ground.) |

Name history
Rugby league history
Maudes Meadow's two recorded matches, both Challenge Cup first-round ties lost by Kendal Hornets, sit right at the start of rugby league's history: a 0-9 defeat to Maryport in March 1900 and a 3-5 defeat to Morecambe in February 1903, from a period when the young Northern Union code was still finding its footing beyond its West Yorkshire and Lancashire heartlands, briefly reaching into Cumberland and Westmorland. Kendal Hornets did not progress past the first round in either recorded cup campaign.
