Owlerton Stadium
Sheffield (Owlerton), South Yorkshire, England
Owlerton Stadium, Sheffield (Owlerton), England — opened 1929, 83 rugby league games hosted, home of Sheffield Eagles (1984–1989).
Sourcing caveat: Owlerton Stadium and Steel City Stadium (researched separately) are confirmed as two distinct Sheffield venues, not alternate names for the same ground: Owlerton is the long-established greyhound/speedway stadium in the Owlerton area (opened 1929) where Sheffield Eagles played 1984-1989 and again briefly from 2014 after Don Valley Stadium's demolition; Steel City Stadium is a modern community stadium built 2021-2022 on the former Don Valley Stadium footprint at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, renamed from 'Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park Community Stadium' in 2025, and has been the Eagles' Championship home since 2018. The 83-games figure sourced here covers only the 1984-1989 spell; it does not include any later Eagles matches at Owlerton.

Rugby league history
Owlerton is primarily a greyhound-racing and motorcycle-speedway venue (home of the Sheffield Tigers speedway team) in the Owlerton area of Sheffield, run today by A&S Leisure Group. Sheffield Eagles played their first-ever match here in September 1984, shortly after the club's foundation, and used it as their home ground until 1989, when the venue's spectator arrangements fell foul of contemporary crowd-safety rules and the Eagles moved on (to Don Valley Stadium). Rugby League Project records 83 rugby league matches at the venue, running from the Eagles' 2 September 1984 debut (v Rochdale Hornets) to a Premiership Trophy tie against Doncaster on 23 April 1989.
Chiefly known today as a greyhound-racing and BriSCA Formula One stock-car venue, and home to the Sheffield Tigers speedway team.
