Rugby league history

Stadium Mackay, in regional Queensland, opened on 20 August 2011 as a purpose-built home for the Mackay Cutters, who had just entered the Queensland Cup (now Intrust Super Cup) competition. Funded by the Australian Government at a cost of around AUD 11.3 million, the venue was built with broadcast- and NRL-standard floodlighting from the outset and includes a western grandstand with corporate facilities seating around 2,000. It carried Virgin Australia's naming rights from opening until 2014, and has been known as BB Print Stadium since a naming-rights deal taken up in early 2016 (renewed for a further term from mid-2020). It remains the home ground of the Mackay Cutters and is also used for representative and junior rugby league fixtures in the region.

Also used as a concert and community-event venue, including hosting the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
