Match report
Played at BB Print Stadium in Mackay, Queensland, this Finals Week 2 semi-final was one of several 2021 NRL finals matches relocated from Sydney due to COVID-19 restrictions. Manly-Warringah, who had been thumped by Melbourne Storm in their week-one qualifying final, produced an extraordinary reversal of form, running out 42-6 winners over Sydney Roosters in one of the largest week-to-week turnarounds in NRL finals history. Manly led 24-6 at half-time and pulled away after the break, scoring seven tries to one. Fullback Tom Trbojevic was the standout, scoring twice, while goal-kicker Reuben Garrick converted all seven Manly tries. The Roosters' lone try came from winger Matt Ikuvalu. The win sent Manly through to the preliminary final, while it ended the Roosters' season.
