Rugby league history
Almost exclusively used for BARLA/National Conference amateur Challenge Cup preliminary and qualifying-round ties, with Wigan St Pats as home side across 25 recorded fixtures from 1993 to 2023. The ground does not meet RFL minimum requirements to host professional Challenge Cup fixtures: in 2014, a home Challenge Cup draw had to be relocated to Leigh Sports Village, and the resulting relocation costs left the club with only a slim profit (£63), prompting it to skip entering the 2015 Challenge Cup altogether. As of 2023 the club had over 450 playing members across youth, ladies and two open-age men's teams.
