Rugby league history

Workington Town's home since 1956, set beside the River Derwent and known for decades simply as Derwent Park. Set its attendance record of 17,741 for a 1965 Challenge Cup third-round tie against Wigan, and has since hosted a broad range of representative rugby league: Kangaroo Tour matches against Cumbria (1990, 1994), Rugby League World Cup fixtures in 2000 and 2013, and a 2016 Four Nations Test between New Zealand and Scotland. The ground took the sponsored name Zebra Claims Stadium from 2015, then became the Fibrus Community Stadium from 9 July 2023 under a broadband-provider sponsorship that also covers Workington Town's women's and junior sides. It remains Workington Town's current home; a Cumberland Sports Village redevelopment of the site is planned for completion around 2027.

Also hosted a rugby union warm-up international, Italy 32-26 Ireland, on 19 May 1995, and has a 398-yard speedway track surrounding the pitch.
