FLAIR Stadium

Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England

FLAIR Stadium, Dewsbury, England — opened 1994, 496 rugby league games hosted, home of Dewsbury Rams.

Sourcing caveat: Sourced capacity figures for FLAIR Stadium are inconsistent between accounts (a Wikipedia-cited official capacity of 3,000 vs. a separately reported ~900-seat main stand figure), and the venue directory's own recorded top crowd of 8,487 exceeds both — likely reflecting a bumper-occasion crowd (e.g. a Challenge Cup tie) before a later capacity reduction/reconfiguration, or a temporary standing allowance not captured by the seated-capacity figures. Given the conflict, no single capacity figure should be treated as definitive without further corroboration; the 5,000-to-8,000 figures quoted in the 2026 redevelopment coverage are current/planned rather than historic capacities.

Rugby league history

This ground stands on the same Crown Flatt site Dewsbury had occupied since 1876 — but it is a different, purpose-rebuilt stadium, not the historic ground now listed separately as 'Crown Flatt (Old)'. Arsonists destroyed the old ground's historic 1914 wooden stand in a fire on 13 September 1988, and after the club's final match there on 14 April 1991 (against Barrow) they played temporarily at Batley's Mount Pleasant while a new £1.5 million stadium was built on the site. The rebuilt ground opened on 6 September 1994 and has carried a succession of sponsorship/rebrand names since — Ram Stadium from 1998, Tetley's Stadium from 2005, and FLAIR Stadium (an air-filtration sponsor) from January 2023. In 2026 it was announced that Super League club Huddersfield Giants will relocate to ground-share FLAIR Stadium with Dewsbury Rams from the 2027 season, backed by a planned Giants-funded redevelopment of over £10m expanding capacity from roughly 5,000 to around 8,000 with new stands on all four sides of the pitch.
