Rugby league history
Golborne Parkside Sports & Community Club, built on the Hugo Johnson Playing Fields in 1970, is primarily a junior amateur rugby league venue. In 2025 it also hosted two Women's Super League fixtures for Leigh Leopards Women, independently confirmed via the club's own website, as an overflow venue while most of their home games were played at their main ground, the Leopards Den.
