Rugby league history
A genuinely obscure, early rugby league ground: Rugby League Project's own match records show Castleford used Hunt's Field as their home ground from September 1896 to February 1906, across 33 matches in the Yorkshire Senior Competition (1896/97) and the Challenge Cup (1896/97 through 1905/06) — including a 43-3 win over Allerton in the 1896/97 Challenge Cup and a 21-2 win over Manningham in the 1900/01 Challenge Cup qualifier, plus two matches against Wigan. Direct verification of the modern Castleford Tigers' own Wikipedia history found no mention of Hunt's Field at all: today's club states its professional predecessor was founded in 1912, entered the Yorkshire Senior Competition in 1922, and played its first professional season at the separate 'Sandy Desert' ground before moving to Wheldon Road (The Jungle) in 1926/27. Whether the 1896-1906 'Castleford' club that played at Hunt's Field was a direct predecessor of, or an entirely separate and unrelated club to, today's Castleford Tigers is NOT established in any source found — recorded here as an open question rather than assumed either way.
