Rugby league history
Better known simply as 'Saltergate', Chesterfield F.C.'s home football ground in the town centre for well over a century. Sheffield Eagles played four rugby league matches there while between settled homes: three in 1989 (against Leeds, Bradford Northern and Castleford) and one in 1999 (a 52-2 defeat to Bradford Bulls in Super League) — all four ended in defeat for the home side.
