1960 Season — Final Standings (NFL & AFL)

Final regular-season standings for the year pro football split into two competing leagues: the American Football League launched with eight charter franchises (Eastern Division: Bills, Patriots, Titans, Oilers; Western Division: Chargers, Broncos, Texans, Raiders), while the NFL simultaneously added its own new franchise, the Dallas Cowboys, into the Western Conference (the Cowboys played a unique "swing team" schedule, facing every other team once, and went 0-11-1 in their debut). The result was a direct market collision: the NFL's Cowboys and the AFL's Texans shared Dallas's Cotton Bowl and competed for the same fanbase, a rivalry the Texans briefly won at the gate before the Cowboys eventually prevailed. Houston won the first-ever AFL Championship over Los Angeles, while Philadelphia denied Vince Lombardi's Packers a title in Norm Van Brocklin's final season.
