Match report
St Helens beat Salford Red Devils 19-12 at Totally Wicked Stadium to reach a fourth straight Grand Final. Joe Batchelor scored twice inside the first 20 minutes from grubber kicks, and Jon Bennison added a third St Helens try in the 70th minute; Jonny Lomax also kicked a drop goal. Salford, through Kallum Watkins and Ryan Brierley, stayed in touch, and had a genuine grievance late on when Tommy Makinson was sin-binned for obstruction/pulling back Tim Lafai in an incident that also saw Salford denied a penalty try — a controversial turning point in the closing stages. Morgan Knowles had earlier been sin-binned for a dangerous tackle on Chris Atkin.
