1998 Super League — Final Ladder
Wigan Warriors finished top of the table, but the title was decided by a Grand Final for the first time in Super League's history — until 1998, the championship was awarded purely on regular-season table position. Wigan Warriors beat Leeds Rhinos 10-4 in that inaugural Grand Final. No League Leaders' Shield existed yet (introduced 2003).

Sourcing caveat: No salary-cap or administration point deductions applied in 1998 — the earliest confirmed Super League deduction is Wakefield Trinity in 2001. This was a 23-round regular season, one round more than a clean double round-robin for 12 clubs would produce; the reason for the extra round wasn't identified in the sources checked. Club names are period-correct for 1998: Halifax's club was branded "Halifax Blue Sox" (their Super League branding ran 1996-2002); Hull's club was "Hull Sharks" (reverting to "Hull FC" from 1999); Salford's club was "Salford Reds" (before "Salford City Reds" and later "Salford Red Devils"); Wakefield Trinity Wildcats were not in Super League this season, playing in Division One instead.
