Rugby league history
St Helens have played all their Super League home fixtures at the stadium since it opened in January 2012 with a 42-24 win over Widnes, and it has since hosted an England v Exiles international origin match (2012), a 2013 Rugby League World Cup group game (Australia 34-2 Fiji, 2 November 2013), and a 2014 Challenge Cup semi-final (Leeds Rhinos 24-16 Warrington Wolves, 9 August 2014). It hosted three group games at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in autumn 2022 (played as Totally Wicked Stadium at the time): Tonga 24-18 Papua New Guinea, Tonga 32-6 Wales, and Australia 66-6 Italy. England returned to the ground in October 2023 to beat Tonga 12-4 in the first Test of that year's Tonga tour.
