1997 Super League — Final Ladder

Bradford Bulls finished top of the table to win the Super League title on table position, the last season decided this way before the Grand Final format began in 1998.

Sourcing caveat: No salary-cap or administration point deductions applied in 1997 — a salary cap was only discussed at a July 1997 executives' meeting, not yet implemented. Salford Reds were promoted into Super League this season, replacing relegated Workington Town; Leeds' club adopted the "Rhinos" name for this season, and Wigan's club adopted "Warriors" (both still bare placenames the previous season). Both of the clubs finishing 11th and 12th folded/collapsed within weeks of each other at the end of this season: Oldham Bears went into voluntary liquidation in October 1997, and Paris Saint-Germain were dissolved in November 1997 after reported losses of roughly £50,000 a week, with their 1998 Super League place filled by promoted Huddersfield rather than automatic re-election.
