Rugby league history
Hull FC moved into the stadium in February 2003 and it has been the club's Super League home ever since, hosting two Challenge Cup-winning seasons (2016 and 2017). The ground previously hosted a 2013 Rugby League World Cup fixture and, as one of the genuine rugby league heartland venues, staged two matches at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in October-November 2022: New Zealand's 68–6 win over Jamaica in the group stage, and New Zealand's 24–18 quarter-final win over Fiji. In February 2026 the ground stepped in to host the World Club Challenge for cross-town rivals Hull KR, whose own Craven Park lacked the capacity, drawing a new record rugby league crowd of 24,600 for Hull KR v Brisbane Broncos on 19 February 2026 — surpassing the previous record of 23,004 set by a Super League derby between Hull FC and Hull KR on 2 September 2007.
Historic Test matches, Cup & Grand Finals hosted
- 19 February 2026 World Club Challenge — Hull KR v Brisbane Broncos, attendance 24,600 (relocated from Hull KR's Craven Park for extra capacity)
