Match report
St Helens were the dominant side for long stretches, racing into a 16-4 lead by early in the second half through Tommy Makinson's brace and a Mark Percival try, with Percival among the goalkicking. Warrington hauled themselves back through tries from Toby King (either side of half-time) and Matty Ashton (two tries either side of the hour mark), with Josh Thewlis adding the extras to push the hosts in front — until St Helens' Jon Bennison crossed deep into stoppage time, with Percival converting from the touchline to tie the match 22-22 and force golden-point extra time. In extra time, Warrington captain George Williams saw his first drop-goal attempt charged down by St Helens forward Morgan Knowles, but composed himself and landed the winning field goal moments later to send Warrington through 23-22, ending St Helens' season. Warrington coach Sam Burgess: "We weren't at our best tonight... George Williams was unbelievable." St Helens coach Paul Wellens called it "soul-destroying."
