Match report
Reigning champions Wigan Warriors delivered a near-perfect "Battle of the Borough" performance at a sold-out, 20,511-strong Brick Community Stadium, brushing aside local rivals Leigh Leopards 38-0 to reach a second straight Grand Final. Wigan settled fastest, seizing on Leigh errors from the outset: a Matt Moylan knock-on let Liam Marshall in for the opener in the 11th minute, and further Leigh handling mistakes gifted Sam Walters a try in the 19th and a second Marshall try just before the break, leaving Wigan 18-0 up at half-time. The second half brought no respite for Leigh: an error from the first tackle handed Walters his second try, and then Bevan French produced a moment of individual brilliance — footwork and a chip-through finish — to extend the lead, before Jai Field's pace sealed the 38-0 scoreline late on, a shutout in a season where Wigan had already shown defensive resolve. Leigh — who had turned their season around to reach the last four having been in the Championship three years earlier — could not overcome six first-half penalties and a string of handling errors. Leigh coach Adrian Lam: "We took this club the furthest they have been in the Super League era so I am really proud of that."
