St. George Illawarra — 1 premiership on record (2010).
Club Background
The St. George Illawarra Dragons were formed as a joint venture on 23 September 1998, entering the competition in 1999 as rugby league's post-Super League War restructuring squeezed the game toward around 14-15 clubs. The financially strained St George Dragons (1921) and Illawarra Steelers (1982, never a premiership winner) combined under the "Dragons" banner, and the merged club has since split home fixtures between WIN Stadium in Wollongong and Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in Kogarah.

Club history
The St. George Illawarra Dragons were formed as a joint venture on 23 September 1998, entering the competition in 1999. The merger was a direct product of rugby league's post-Super League War restructuring: having reunified in 1997-98, the game's administrators demanded the competition shrink toward around 14-15 clubs by 2000. Facing that squeeze, two proud but financially strained clubs combined rather than be forced out: the storied but cash-poor St George Dragons (1921) and the Illawarra Steelers (founded 1982), which had never won a premiership. The deal preserved both identities under the "Dragons" banner.
The new club has split home fixtures between WIN Stadium in Wollongong and Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in Kogarah, reflecting its dual heritage. Its most dramatic early moment came in the 1999 grand final itself, where the joint venture — in its first season — led Melbourne Storm 14-0 at halftime in front of a world-record crowd of 107,999, only to lose 20-18 after a contentious late penalty try. The club finally broke through in 2010, defeating the Sydney Roosters 32-8 for its maiden premiership as the merged entity.
