Match report
With a Grand Final berth on the line, the Sydney Roosters, who had finished last the previous season, produced a statement performance to end the Gold Coast Titans' finals run at Suncorp Stadium. Sam Perrett struck twice inside the first 24 minutes, either side of a rare Titans highlight when winger William Zillman gathered a perfectly weighted Scott Prince chip-kick to score, trimming the margin to 6-6 before Perrett's second try put the Roosters ahead 12-6 at the break. Gold Coast never threatened again. Sydney's forwards and halves controlled the second half, with Daniel Conn barging over in the 49th minute and captain Braith Anasta crossing in the 63rd. Todd Carney was flawless with the boot, converting all five tries and adding a penalty goal, while Frank-Paul Nu'uausala completed the rout in the 80th minute by pouncing on a loose Titans chip-kick. The 32-6 scoreline sent the Roosters, wooden-spooners the year before, through to the 2010 Grand Final against St George Illawarra, while the Titans' breakthrough season ended at the penultimate hurdle.
