Catalans Dragons 20-14 Warrington Wolves — 2018 Challenge Cup Final
Wembley Stadium, London · Attendance: 50,672 (the smallest post-1999 Wembley final crowd at the time, attributed partly to the logistics of a French club reaching Wembley)
Data last verified: 11 August 2026.
2018 Challenge Cup Final: Catalans Dragons 20-14 Warrington Wolves, at Wembley Stadium, London.
Sourcing caveat: Tyrone Roberts' goal-kicking for Warrington is described in sources as a mix of conversions and a penalty goal without an itemised breakdown of which score was which. Lineups added from Rugby League Project's match-page team sheets — squad numbers are non-sequential (e.g. Catalans' 19, 20, 21, 31, 33; Warrington's 18, 20, 27, 34) confirming they are genuine shirt numbers, not a position-order renumbering.

Match report
Catalans Dragons made history as the first non-English club to win the Challenge Cup, beating Warrington 20-14 in a final they controlled for long stretches. Lewis Tierney pounced on a Stefan Ratchford handling error inside two minutes to set the tone, and further tries from Benjamin Garcia and a rampaging Brayden Wiliame extended the lead early in the second half. Josh Drinkwater was faultless off the tee. Warrington, appearing in their second final in three years, rallied through Ben Murdoch-Masila and George King but ran out of time. Full-back Tony Gigot was outstanding throughout and was named Lance Todd Trophy winner. The result reshaped the competition's history and cemented Catalans as a genuine domestic force 11 years after their first final appearance, a 2007 loss to St Helens.
