Sunday, 27 September 1992 · Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney, New South Wales
1992 NSWRL Grand Final result: Brisbane Broncos def. St. George, 28-8, at Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney, New South Wales on Sunday, 27 September 1992.
Sourcing caveat: An earlier version of the site's prose credited Gavin Allen as a joint try-scorer with Allan Langer on Brisbane's first try; research for this Tier-1 entry confirmed via rugbyleagueproject.org and Wikipedia that Allen provided the build-up/decoy while Langer alone is credited with the try. St George's second try-scorer (Scott Gourley, alongside Ricky Walford) was also newly confirmed to reconcile the 28-8 final score.

Match context
Brisbane, in only their fifth season since entering the competition in 1988, faced a St George side steeped in premiership tradition as the Dragons sought a first title since their extraordinary run of eleven premierships between 1956 and 1966. St George struck first through a well-worked team try finished by Ricky Walford. Brisbane responded through halfback Allan Langer, who combined with prop Gavin Allen to score the Broncos' first try, before later in the half Langer capitalised on a fortunate moment when he ran behind referee Greg McCallum, who inadvertently blocked a defender, to extend Brisbane's lead to 6-4 at the break. The Dragons had a golden opportunity to seize the initiative early in the second half when prop Neil Tierney attempted an ambitious kick into the in-goal from close range rather than taking the simpler option, a decision that backfired and proved a critical turning point in Brisbane's favour. From there the Broncos took control, with Alan Cann scoring twice, including a try that stretched the lead to 18-4, as Brisbane's superior fitness and structure told in the closing stages. The signature moment of the match, and one that remains etched in the code's highlight reels, came when powerful centre Steve Renouf produced a mesmerising length-of-field run, stepping inside a defender before evading Walford to score in the corner and put the result beyond doubt. Allan Langer was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal for his two tries and constant probing threat as a ball-running halfback, while giant prop Glenn Lazarus delivered a dominant, bruising performance that hinted at the Origin and Test greatness to come. The 28-8 scoreline delivered Brisbane's first premiership, officially launching what would become known as the Broncos' golden era under coach Wayne Bennett, a dynasty that would claim further titles in 1993, 1997, 1998 and 2000 and establish Brisbane as the dominant force of the decade.
