Harry Sunderland Trophy
Danny McGuire. Won the Harry Sunderland Trophy, Super League's Grand Final Man of the Match honour at the time, "for his organisation, leadership and try-scoring."
Match context
Leeds Rhinos beat Wigan Warriors 22-20 at a then-record 73,512-strong Old Trafford crowd, completing a rare domestic treble (Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield, Grand Final) — only the third club to do so, the first since St Helens in 2006. Danny McGuire scored twice, including a contentious second try where a dropped-ball incident was ruled to have gone forward and been legally recovered on video review; Joel Moon and 20-year-old Josh Walters added further Leeds tries. Wigan's Joe Burgess, Dominic Manfredi and Matty Bowen all scored in reply, but it wasn't enough. The match was the final Leeds appearance for departing stalwarts Kevin Sinfield, Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai, and Joe Burgess's last game for Wigan before moving to the NRL. A streaker interrupted play around the 66th minute and was ejected.
