Harry Sunderland Trophy

Jonny Lomax. Won the Harry Sunderland Trophy, Super League's Grand Final Man of the Match honour at the time — two years before the award was renamed the Rob Burrow Award for the 2024 Grand Final.

Match context

St Helens beat Leeds Rhinos 24-12 at Old Trafford in front of 60,783 fans to complete a League Leaders' Shield and Grand Final double and win a 4th consecutive Super League title (10th overall), making head coach Kristian Woolf the first coach to win three straight Grand Finals. Matty Lees scored inside the opening three minutes — reported as the fastest try in Grand Final history — and St Helens led 12-6 at half-time after a Jon Bennison try, with Leeds' Kruise Leeming replying just before the break. St Helens pulled away after the interval through Konrad Hurrell and Mark Percival, with Rhyse Martin's late try only a consolation for Leeds. Jonny Lomax was named Man of the Match and won the Harry Sunderland Trophy. The result extended a remarkable St Helens run of Grand Final wins stretching back to 2019.
