Sourcing caveat: Try-scoring minutes come from a secondary match report rather than Rugby League Project's own scoresheet, but are consistent with the overall points tally. No official player-of-the-match award could be confirmed for this fixture — NRL finals in this era did not always carry a sponsored award outside the Grand Final's Clive Churchill Medal.

Match report
North Queensland produced their most dominant finals performance in club history against Cronulla at 1300SMILES Stadium, Townsville. Johnathan Thurston opened the scoring with an early field goal before five-eighth Michael Morgan sparked the rout, crossing twice either side of tries to Justin O'Neill and Scott Bolton to give the hosts a commanding 19-0 half-time lead. The Sharks, chasing their first grand final appearance since 1997, never threatened a comeback, and further tries to Antonio Winterstein, Kyle Feldt and Ethan Lowe in the second half completed a 39-0 demolition — Cronulla's heaviest finals defeat in club history to that point. Sharks captain Paul Gallen left the field with an ankle injury during the match. The result propelled the Cowboys to their fourth preliminary final and, eventually, their maiden premiership, while ending Cronulla's season.
