1925 NSWRFL Season

Nine teams began the 1925 premiership, but by round 13 South Sydney were so dominant (undefeated and well clear with five rounds remaining) that the NSWRFL curtailed the regular competition rather than play out the remaining rounds, and no finals series or grand final was held. South Sydney finished the truncated season 12-0-0, remaining the only club in the competition's history to go through a full home-and-away season undefeated, and also won the second- and third-grade competitions. The season concluded instead with the separate City Cup knockout tournament, which South Sydney also won. Because of the early curtailment, other clubs played only 11 or 12 matches, and third through fifth (Balmain, North Sydney, St. George) all finished level on 15 points, while seventh and eighth (University, Eastern Suburbs/Newtown) finished level on 10-11 points. Western Suburbs' second-place finish, sixteen points behind the runaway leaders, was the club's best result of the decade to that point. Glebe finished sixth, and Eastern Suburbs and Newtown shared the wooden spoon on 10 points each, both with losing records across their shortened schedules.
