1927 NSWRFL Season
South Sydney finished as minor premiers of the sixteen-round 1927 competition with 32 points, having beaten second-placed St. George in the run home. South Sydney went on to win the grand final 20-11 over St. George at the Royal Agricultural Society Grounds on 18 September 1927, played in heavy rain on a waterlogged pitch. It was South Sydney's third consecutive premiership, making them the third club in the competition's history to achieve that feat. St. George's rise to runner-up was a dramatic turnaround from having finished as wooden-spooners in 1926. It was the final NSWRFL season for veteran Frank Burge. Eastern Suburbs and Western Suburbs tied for third on 22 points, with Western Suburbs edging the tie-break on points differential. Newtown finished a break-even fifth on 20 points, with North Sydney and Balmain occupying sixth and seventh with losing records, while Glebe finished eighth and University, conceding 320 points across the season, finished with the wooden spoon. South Sydney's 402 points for was comfortably the highest tally in the competition, more than 100 clear of second-placed St. George's 284, underlining the scale of the club's dominance during this run of three consecutive titles from 1925 to 1927.
