1944 NSWRFL Season — Final Regular-Season Ladder

8 teams, 14-round home-and-away season, the 37th season, wartime year. Wikipedia's fetch did not return a full ladder table (only confirmed Newtown finished 1st/minor premiers). Ladder here is from Rugby League Project, arithmetically cross-checked (total wins=53=total losses; total points-for=2021=total points-against). Grand Final: Newtown, as minor premiers, exercised a 'right of challenge' and forced a Grand Final rematch after losing the initial final 19-16; Balmain then won the replayed Grand Final 12-8, Balmain's eighth title, despite finishing 2nd on the regular-season ladder.
