1921 NSWRFL Season

Nine teams contested the 1921 premiership, with St George entering the competition in place of Annandale. Because of a mid-year Kangaroo tour of Great Britain, only a single, shortened series of eight rounds was played. North Sydney went through the series undefeated (seven wins and one draw) and were crowned premiers on a first-past-the-post basis, with no finals series played. Sydney University lost all eight of their matches, conceding 292 points. Competition points shown include the standard win/draw points plus a bye credit that every club received once during the eight rounds (nine teams meant one bye per round). Eastern Suburbs finished a clear second, and Glebe and Balmain rounded out the top four with winning records in the abbreviated schedule. South Sydney and Newtown occupied the middle of the table, while St George — playing their debut NSWRFL season — and Western Suburbs tied for seventh, both finishing with 2-0-6 records ahead of University's winless campaign at the bottom. North Sydney's undefeated title was their first premiership since the club joined the competition in 1908, ending a thirteen-year wait through the competition's founding years and the entirety of World War I.
