Preliminary Final, 1962 NRL finals series: Western Suburbs Magpies 25–13 Newtown, at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, NSW on 8 Sep 1962.
Sourcing caveat: Neither side's named scorers reconcile to the recorded score. Western Suburbs (2 tries + 4 goals = 14) fall 11 points short of 25, despite repeat re-checks of the source finding no further scorers. Newtown (0 tries + 2 goals = 4) fall 9 points short of 13 -- the source names no try-scorer for Newtown at all, an unusually large unexplained gap. Both reported honestly rather than guessed.
