Match report
A back-and-forth qualifying final that went to the wire, with the lead changing hands repeatedly in the first half before the two kickers traded penalty goals to lock scores level by the break. Thurston's second try, early in the second half, proved decisive, and although Luke Patten crossed late for the Bulldogs, North Queensland held on by two points at home in front of a sell-out Townsville crowd.
