Match report

South Sydney's defeat of the defending premiers Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium sent the Rabbitohs into their first grand final in 43 years. The match was locked at half-time before Souths pulled away through a dominant Greg Inglis performance (two tries) supported by tries to Alex Johnston, Ben Te'o and Lote Tuqiri, with Adam Reynolds landing 5 from 5 conversions plus a penalty goal. The Roosters, chasing a second straight title under coach Trent Robinson, scored through Anthony Minichiello (twice), Aidan Guerra and Mitchell Pearce, with James Maloney converting three of four. The loss ended the finals campaign of a Roosters side missing injured Sonny Bill Williams and marked the final NRL appearance of veteran fullback Anthony Minichiello. Michael Maguire's Rabbitohs went on to beat Canterbury-Bankstown in the Grand Final the following week.
