Match report
This Qualifying Final pitted minor premiers Sydney Roosters against reigning premiers South Sydney Rabbitohs at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with the winner earning a direct route to the Preliminary Final. Trent Robinson's Roosters were ruthless, racing to a 26-0 halftime lead built on five tries in the opening 36 minutes from Joseph Manu, Mitchell Aubusson, Boyd Cordner, Siosiua Taukeiaho and James Tedesco. Five-eighth Luke Keary was central to the rout, setting up several of the tries in what was widely reported as a masterclass performance. Latrell Mitchell added a sixth Roosters try after the break before South Sydney captain Adam Reynolds scored and converted a late consolation try. The Roosters progressed straight to the Preliminary Final and went on to win the 2019 NRL Grand Final, becoming back-to-back premiers.
