Match report
Played at Bankwest Stadium, this Finals Week 2 semi-final pitted minor-premiership-chasing Parramatta against a South Sydney side seeking a third straight preliminary final. The Eels burst out of the blocks, with a first-half blitz built on strong go-forward and two tries apiece to fullback Clint Gutherson and winger George Jennings, taking an 18-8 lead into the sheds. Momentum swung decisively after the break, as hooker Damien Cook took control from dummy-half, setting up scores for Liam Knight and Cameron Murray before finishing with a try of his own late on. Jaxson Paulo bookended the match with two tries on the wing, and Bayley Sironen crossed as Souths piled on 30 unanswered second-half points. Adam Reynolds was faultless off the tee, converting all six tries plus an earlier penalty goal. The 38-24 result sent South Sydney through to the preliminary final for the third consecutive season and ended Parramatta's premiership campaign.
