10 Sep 2022 · AAMI Park, Melbourne, VIC · Attendance: 20,838

Data last verified: 11 August 2026.

Elimination Final, 2022 NRL finals series: Canberra Raiders 28–20 Melbourne Storm, at AAMI Park, Melbourne, VIC on 10 Sep 2022.

Sourcing caveat: Melbourne used two goal-kickers (Cameron Munster and Nick Meaney) across the match; the combined tally is shown descriptively rather than attributed conversion-by-conversion. Try-scoring minutes were not independently cross-verified against a second minute-by-minute source. No official player-of-the-match award was found for this fixture. The scoring detail above was originally researched against an incorrect venue/date/score (mistakenly framed as 34-28 at GIO Stadium, Canberra, 9 Sept). Lineup research (24 Aug 2026) confirmed the correct match is Canberra Raiders 28 def. Melbourne Storm 20, played 10 September 2022 at AAMI Park, Melbourne - matching the site's own NRL_FINALS_SERIES record. Melbourne's listed goal-kicker was unconfirmed ('(2/5 conversions)'); research identifies Cameron Munster as the confirmed successful kicker (2/2), with Nick Meaney missing both his conversion attempts (0/2), for a combined 2/5 as recorded - this can be split into separate kicker credits in a future correction pass. Lineups above are independently verified for the correct 28-20 match. Match report

In one of the finals series' biggest boilovers, the eighth-placed Canberra Raiders travelled to AAMI Park and eliminated the fourth-placed, heavily favoured Melbourne Storm 28-20 in the Week 1 Elimination Final. Melbourne winger Xavier Coates scored a first-half hat-trick and looked set to power the Storm through, but Canberra hit back repeatedly, with five different try-scorers — Matthew Timoko, Jamal Fogarty, Elliott Whitehead, Hudson Young and Jordan Rapana — and near-perfect goal-kicking from Fogarty proving decisive. The Raiders led at halftime and held on despite a late Nelson Asofa-Solomona try for Melbourne. It was Canberra's fifth straight win over the Storm at AAMI Park, sending them on to a Week 2 semi-final against Parramatta, while ending Melbourne's premiership campaign despite finishing the regular season in the top four.
