Sourcing caveat: Try/goal minute-by-minute detail was sourced primarily from a live-blog rather than an official NRL statistics provider, though the scoring sequence reconciles exactly with the final score. No official player-of-the-match award was found for this fixture. The scoring detail above was originally researched against a slightly-off score (mistakenly framed as 34-12). Lineup research (24 Aug 2026) confirmed the correct match is South Sydney Rabbitohs 38 def. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 12, played 17 September 2022 at Allianz Stadium, Sydney - matching the site's own NRL_FINALS_SERIES record and reconciling exactly to the listed try/goal scorers (6 tries x 4 + 7 conversions x 2 = 38 for Souths; 2 tries x 4 + 2 conversions x 2 = 12 for Cronulla). Lineups above are independently verified for the correct 38-12 match. The scoring detail above was originally researched against a slightly-off score (mistakenly framed as 34-12). Match report

Just six days after a bruising Finals Week 1 win over the Roosters, South Sydney produced a dominant, injury-hampered performance to eliminate Cronulla-Sutherland 38-12 in the 2022 Semi-Final at Allianz Stadium on 17 September, before 39,733 fans. The Rabbitohs raced to a big halftime lead built on tries to Mark Nicholls, Taane Milne and Cameron Murray, with Latrell Mitchell's faultless goal-kicking, seven from seven including a late penalty, proving decisive. Cronulla, coached by Craig Fitzgibbon in his first finals series, hit back through Briton Nikora and Ronaldo Mulitalo either side of further Rabbitohs tries to Lachlan Ilias and Cody Walker, but could never close the gap. Jason Demetriou's side absorbed injuries to Alex Johnston, Siliva Havili and Jai Arrow yet still advanced to a fifth straight preliminary final, setting up a rematch with reigning premiers Penrith. For Cronulla, the loss ended a season that had promised a maiden title, closing out with a finals exit at the semi-final stage.
