Match report
South Sydney produced a dominant performance to eliminate Manly from the top-four race, avenging their loss to the Sea Eagles in the previous year's preliminary final. The Rabbitohs raced to a big lead by half-time and extended it further before a fast finish by Manly, who scored four unanswered tries late to make the final margin more respectable at 24-40. Adam Reynolds was central to the rout, scoring two tries and converting 6 of 7 attempts, while Alex Johnston also crossed twice. Manly's night was compounded by an injury scare when stand-in hooker Jayden Hodge suffered a neck injury and was taken to hospital for precautionary scans at half-time. The win sent South Sydney straight into the preliminary final, while Manly dropped into a sudden-death elimination final the following week.
