Match report
Minor premiers Sydney Roosters had a 12-game winning streak ended by Melbourne Storm in a tense Qualifying Final at Allianz Stadium. Melbourne struck first through Marika Koroibete, and the Roosters replied through Sio Siua Taukeiaho to trail 8-6 at the break. Kurt Mann extended Melbourne's lead early in the second half before Shaun Kenny-Dowall hit back for the Roosters, and Tim Glasby's try looked to have sealed it for the Storm until Blake Ferguson crossed late to cut the margin to two points. Melbourne held on 20-18 despite losing winger Koroibete to a lacerated Achilles during the match, sending the Storm through to a preliminary final and eliminating the ladder-leading Roosters from a direct path to the Grand Final.
