Match report
Parramatta Eels overwhelmed the Canberra Raiders 40-4 at CommBank Stadium on 16 September 2022. Coming off a qualifying-final loss to Penrith the previous week, Parramatta responded emphatically, racing to a big halftime lead behind tries from Viliami Penisini, Tom Opacic, Waqa Blake and Junior Paulo inside the first 23 minutes. Halfback Mitchell Moses starred with a try, five goals and a penalty goal, while back-rower Marata Niukore capped the rout with a double in the closing quarter. Canberra's lone response came through fullback Xavier Savage just before halftime, but the Raiders — playing in their first finals series since 2020 — could not match the Eels' attacking intensity or defensive line speed. The win propelled Parramatta into the Preliminary Final against the North Queensland Cowboys, one step from a first Grand Final appearance since 2009, while Canberra's season ended.
