Match report
The 4th-seeded Roosters — still officially branded "Sydney City Roosters" this season — hosted 5th-placed Canterbury-Bankstown in the tightest of the four Week 1 finals, with Bradley Clyde and Willie Talau's tries proving enough for the Bulldogs to escape with a 12-8 win. Under this year's McIntyre format the result carried lower stakes than a straight knockout: as the 4v5 qualifying final, both the winning Bulldogs and the losing Roosters advanced to the Semi-Finals a week later.
