Match report
This qualifying final was one of the most defensively dominant performances in modern NRL finals history, the lowest-scoring finals match since 1992. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck's unconverted try in the eighth minute proved to be the only points of the night, with James Maloney missing the sole conversion attempt. From there both defensive lines were near-impenetrable: the Roosters made an extraordinary 37 tackles inside their own 20-metre line to preserve the shutout. Manly created several genuine opportunities but could not convert them — Daly Cherry-Evans dropped a certain try-scoring pass just before half-time, and two further tries were held up by the video referee. Roosters prop Sam Moa dislocated his kneecap two minutes in but played on, while Manly's Richie Fa'aoso was knocked out in a tackle and stretchered off in a neck brace, leaving Manly light for large portions of the match. The victory secured the Roosters a home semi-final and a week's rest.
