Match report

Sydney Roosters hosted Canterbury-Bankstown at Allianz Stadium in the first Semi-Final of finals week two, with the winner advancing to a preliminary final. James Maloney opened the scoring with an early penalty goal, and the hosts led 8-4 at halftime after Tim Lafai's 27th-minute try kept the Bulldogs in touch. The match turned around a heavily disputed 51st-minute try to prop Kane Evans, after which a Roger Tuivasa-Sheck try further extended the lead. Shaun Kenny-Dowall completed a hat-trick and Boyd Cordner added a further try as the Roosters ran away 38-12, with Maloney converting all seven Sydney tries. Damien Cook and Curtis Rona — the latter in the final seconds — scored consolation tries for a Bulldogs side whose kickers missed all three conversion attempts, ending Canterbury's finals campaign.
